Las Vegas trip planned in December

Megan's Dating Tip: Be happy. Don't let dating stress you out or define you. Enjoy the process and the journey, not just the destination. Remember that dating is supposed to be fun and rewarding, not a chore or a competition.

Hello, Las Vegas!

On a gorgeous Sunday morning like today, July 20th, 2025, my mind is already racing with all the potential adventures the week could hold. One of the best and most underrated things about living here is the incredible variety of things to do. But let’s be honest, almost everything is more fun when you have someone to share it with.

I’m on the hunt for activity partners. I’m not necessarily talking about a new best friend (though that can happen!), but more about that go-to person for a specific hobby—the buddy you text when you want to try a new hiking trail, see a niche museum, or finally learn how to play pickleball. It's about finding people to share an experience with.

If you're also looking to get out and explore, here are some of the best places and activities I've found that are perfect for teaming up.

For My Fellow Outdoor Adventurers

The natural landscape around this city is breathtaking, and it’s a crime not to explore it.

  • Hiking & Climbing: I’m always looking for a reliable hiking partner to tackle a bigger trail. A trip to Valley of Fire State Park to do the Fire Wave and White Domes loop is an incredible way to spend a Saturday, but it’s a solid 4-5 hour commitment. For something closer, I'm eager to find a partner to explore the trails at Sloan Canyon National Conservation Area to see the petroglyphs.

  • Water Sports: When the weather is right, I’d love to find someone to go kayaking with from Willow Beach to the stunning Emerald Cove. It’s an all-day trip that requires a bit of teamwork. For a more relaxed afternoon, finding a partner to rent stand-up paddleboards on Lake Las Vegas is a perfect way to beat the heat and get some exercise.

For My Brainy & Curious Partners

There's so much to learn and see in this city beyond the glitz.

  • Museums & Galleries: I'm looking for a museum buddy to go beyond the usual spots. I want to check out the National Atomic Testing Museum. It feels like such a crucial and unique piece of Nevada's history. For art lovers, the Marjorie Barrick Museum of Art at UNLV always has thought-provoking contemporary exhibitions, and it’s free!

  • Lectures & Talks: This is a great, often free, way to engage your brain. I keep an eye on the event calendars for UNLV's public lecture series—they have fascinating talks on everything from astronomy to history. Going with someone means you have a built-in person to grab coffee with afterward to discuss all the cool things you just learned. The Clark County Library District also hosts fantastic author talks and workshops.

For My Sporting & Competitive Companions

Whether playing or watching, sports are always better with a buddy.

  • Learning a New Sport: Pickleball is everywhere, and I’m ready to learn. I’m looking for a partner to take a beginner's clinic with at a place like Sunset Park or Durango Hills Park, which have dedicated courts. It’s less intimidating to be a newbie with a friend. I've also thought about trying indoor archery at a place like Impact Archery.

  • Cheering on the Home Teams: Of course, going to a Vegas Golden Knights game is an electric experience. But I’d also love to find a partner to check out our other pro teams. A summer evening at a Las Vegas Aviators baseball game in Summerlin is a classic American experience, and the energy at a Las Vegas Aces WNBA game at Michelob ULTRA Arena is absolutely infectious.

How I Find My Partners

Finding these activity soulmates is a proactive sport in itself. I’ve had the most luck using Meetup.com, which has dedicated groups for almost any hobby you can imagine (Vegas Hikers is a great one). I also browse Eventbrite and the local library calendars for specific, one-off events and classes. Honestly, just showing up to these places and being open to conversation is a great way to meet people who are already interested in the same things you are.

My calendar is always open for a new adventure. If you're looking for someone to hit the trails, geek out at a museum, or learn a new sport with, let me know. There’s just too much to explore in this city to do it all alone!
